Baseball is a grind. Every MLB team plays 162 games, there's a game almost every night from late March to the end of September, and no two nights look the same because the starting pitchers keep changing. For anyone into baseball betting, that's the appeal. You're never waiting a week for the next game, and there's nearly always a matchup worth a closer look.
Ozoon has odds on every MLB game from Opening Day to the last out of the World Series. We also price Japan's NPB, Korea's KBO and Chinese Taipei's CPBL, which usually play while most of Canada is asleep.
Open any MLB game on Ozoon and you'll see three baseball betting lines before anything else: the moneyline, the run line and the total. Plenty of people never need more than that.
The moneyline is just picking who wins. The score doesn't matter, and if the game goes to extras, those innings count. Back Toronto at +130, they win 3–2 in the 10th, you get paid.
People coming over from football often go looking for a baseball point spread and can't find one by that name. In baseball it's called the run line, and it's almost always 1.5 runs. The favourite is -1.5, so they have to win by two or more. The underdog is +1.5, so they cover if they win or lose by one.
Unlike an NFL spread, the number doesn't change. A complete mismatch and a coin-flip game both get 1.5. The price moves instead, which leads to a quirk: a team that's clearly favoured on the moneyline can pay plus money on the run line.
| Market | Home favourite | Road underdog |
|---|---|---|
| Moneyline | -165 | +140 |
| Run line | -1.5 (+125) | +1.5 (-150) |
Example prices only.
Say you put $50 on the favourite. At -165 on the moneyline you'd make $30.30 if they win by any margin. At +125 on the run line you'd make $62.50, but a one-run win loses you the bet, and one-run games come up a lot in baseball.
Totals are the over/under on combined runs. Most MLB totals land somewhere between 7.5 and 9.5. A July night at Coors Field will sit higher than a cold April game in Seattle, and the starting pitchers can shift it a run either way. If the total is a whole number, say 8, and the game ends 5–3, it's a push and your stake comes back.
First 5 Innings (F5) bets settle after five innings. It's really a bet on the two starters, so if you trust a pitcher but not the bullpen behind him, that's the one to look at.
All our baseball odds are in American format, which works off $100.
A minus number is the favourite: -150 means you'd risk $150 to win $100. A plus number is the underdog: +150 means $100 wins you $150. You don't have to bet $100, it just scales. $20 at -150 wins $13.33, and $20 at +150 wins $30. Either way, your stake comes back on top.
One habit worth picking up is turning odds into a percentage. For minus odds, divide the odds by the odds plus 100, so -150 becomes 150 ÷ 250, or 60%. For plus odds, divide 100 by the odds plus 100, so +150 is 100 ÷ 250, or 40%. That's the chance the price is giving a team. If your own read says they win more often than that, you might have a bet.
You'll also notice the two sides of a game add up to a little over 100%. That extra bit is the sportsbook's margin.
MLB lines usually go up the day before, and they rarely sit still until first pitch.
Pitching is the big one. If a team's ace gets scratched with a sore shoulder and a call-up from Triple-A takes his spot, the moneyline can jump 50 cents or more in minutes. Lineups are next. A star getting a day off, or a late scratch, shows up in the price as soon as the lineup card is out.
Weather matters more in baseball than most people expect. Wind blowing out at Wrigley can add a run to a total on its own. Then there's the money itself: if bets pile up on one side, the line moves to even things out.
Because starters matter this much, check the market rules for what happens to your bet if the listed pitcher changes. Everything on settlement is in our Sports FAQ.
Nobody can promise you a winner, and that includes us. What the best baseball bets tend to have in common is that the person placing them noticed something the price hadn't caught up with yet.
A few habits help. Look at the starters properly, not just their ERA. Strikeout rate and how deep a pitcher has been going into games tell you a lot more. Check how much the bullpen has thrown over the last few days, because a tired relief corps is where late leads go to die. And don't forget the ballpark and the weather.
Then pick the market that fits what you actually think. If you like a starter but not the guys behind him, try F5. If you expect the favourite to win comfortably, the run line pays more than the moneyline. Before you click, turn the price into a percentage and ask yourself honestly whether you rate the team higher than that.
We also run Odds Boosts, and during the MLB playoffs you'll find MLB Daily Playoff Specials next to the regular playoff lines.
You can do your baseball betting online with Ozoon on a laptop, in your phone's browser or through the Ozoon app. Odds are in CAD. Deposits work with Interac e-Transfer, Visa and Mastercard, or crypto if you'd rather: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Tether are all accepted.
Live betting and baseball go well together. There's a pause after every pitch, so prices have time to catch up when a reliever comes in, a team strings together a four-run inning or the tarp comes out. On our live betting page you can bet the moneyline, run line, total and individual innings while the game is on.

For most Canadians, baseball betting means MLB, and that's where we go deepest: game lines every day, Playoff Series prices, World Series and division futures, and MVP, Cy Young and Rookie of the Year odds.
College Baseball runs from February to the College World Series in June. Further afield, Japan's NPB, South Korea's KBO and Chinese Taipei's CPBL usually play overnight or early in the morning Eastern time. Handy if you're up early and want something on with your coffee.
The Blue Jays are Canada's only MLB team, and you can see it in how people here bet. Toronto won the American League pennant in 2025 and took the Dodgers all the way to Game 7 of the World Series. Every Jays game on Ozoon has the moneyline, run line, total, player props and live betting, and futures for next season go up in MLB Futures once those markets open.
Bet for fun, set yourself a budget before you start and don't chase losses. If you want to set limits or take a break, head to our Responsible Gaming page, or see Self Exclusion to block your account.
Usually, it's the starting pitcher. Lineup news, weather and how people are betting all move the line too, but a late change of starter is the big one.
Start with the moneyline, since all you need to get right is the winner. Once reading odds feels natural, try totals or First 5 Innings, where you can back a view on the pitching without guessing the final margin.
Yes. Moneyline, run line and totals bets all count extra innings unless the market says otherwise. First 5 Innings bets settle after the fifth, whatever happens later.
If the game doesn't start on its scheduled date, bets are normally voided and you get your stake back. The full rules are in our Sports FAQ.
